  • If your Klout score ever drops suddenly, check that all your networks are still connected.

Why Klout?

  • SOCIAL PROOF

  • Yes all this Klout stuff is important.
  • So much nonsense out there  Klout is like a big popularity filter.
  • You can then pay attention to people with high Klout scores.
  • I.e. higher signal/noise ratio.
  • You get noticed by being visible.
  • I know have a high six figure annual career because of my Klout
  • Take a look www.iboommedia.com
  • Being noticed means better connections, more money etc.
  • Markets are conversations.
  • Knowing your audience well means that you’ll know what they will be interested in and therefore engage in.

  • Even if that means content targeted to niche segments of your audience rather mass attacking.

  • Do what you do and engage others, attract them to the possibility, not push them.
You see below last night I did some experimenting and saw a move from 69 to 81 overnight.

Best Methods To Increase Your Klout

Klout influencers are Facebook and Twitter.

Twitter chats – use TweetDeck and start with  #KloutTip #Klout

Talk to the most influential thought leaders in your space. GRAB their attention!

Be authentic: no trickery or manipulation.

Share your passions and share them with the world.

Share big personal news.and be REAL

Facebook adds Klout, What’s App adds no Klout.

On Twitter RT and converse with high influencers and post your own content

In Instagram, put interesting images with comments — use hashtags to attract more engagement.

Write posts that will cause social media influencers to share, like or engage with your content.

(HUGE Tip when I 1st started my blog www.jmhhacker.com I would mention people I looked up to then send the blog to then over twitter.) That resulted in my blog getting retweeted to large audiences.

Importantly, speak to people in general.  Engage, do not sell.  Relationships first.

Get involved in trending hash tags.

When using Twitter, you can shorten links and leave characters for others to add comments to

Seek out people who already have high Klout scores or large follower base and include these people in your conversation – your name is carried

Re-share your best content as the life of a message is short – followers don’t have time to scroll back over 24 hours worth of postings.

Use a scheduling tool to post at your off-hours.

Be influenced and be influential and create quality engaging content

    • Hootsuite also provide videos for new users to quickly get on-board. The free version will accomodate up to three socils media sites (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn) you can then create dashboards with multiple hashtags to sort through variety of twitter streams.

    1. Go to the Cross post from Twitter to Yammer recipe. If not already activated, click each of the Activate buttons for the Twitter and Yammer channels and authorise access for IFTTT.

Set up is the same as above – and prevents Instagram photos being shared to Twitter as links, but as native photos instead.

    IFTTT with Twitter search

    • Set IFTTT to tweet “Improving my Klout score everyday! @jmhhacker @iboommedia @matthewindustry  every time someone tweets “#klout”  it MIGHT make sense to delay this tweet with Buffer.

    • BUT if I set IFTTT to respond “Let’s talk when you have a minute” every time someone tweets with #klouttips I want that effect to be immediate,  not delayed otherwise I lose the possibility to “chat”.
Also one of my fav recipes is that every time I post to instagram it posts to twitter

    • Try this IFTTT Recipe: Instagram pics published natively on Twitter

    I’ve got to 81,79 and 79 on Klout .
Yes 3 different accounts all in the top 1%

    Finally… The BIG tip…

Every time I post silly little things that are human and personal my engagement goes through the roof.

For example  Several months ago while visiting a friend. I made the rookie mistake of thinking the house was empty. After all, I managed to walk downstairs, make myself some scrambled eggs for breakfast, take the dog out, and not hear a peep from anyone. I just naturally assumed I was home alone.

Boredom sets in and I whip out the laptop to view adult material (hey I am human)when I see my phone light up with a text from my friend.
I figure he is letting me know he in on the way home

Then it hit me. I heard the wheeling of the computer chair in the den downstairs. I take a big gulp. The text says we came up to the room but saw yo were busy 🙂 let us know when your done.
See that’s real yet embarrassing but was social media gold. I believe that post was liked a few hundred times and retweeted over 300 more.

Point is don’t be afraid to be real even if it is humiliating!

And finally post content that Klout think you are relevant in. I make posts all the time using #klout #branding #business etc and klout sees this which makes me a top expert in that niche.
