Having effective content is a good chunk of social media marketing. If you’re a business, the effort you put into social media should be greater than a normal person. However, content isn’t the only thing you should focus on. In fact, there is a golden ratio of how much you should spend on content. If you aren’t familiar with it, check out IBoom Media.
This blog just focuses on a few quick tips on developing social media content.
Make It Stand Out
500 million tweets are sent per day on twitter. That’s a lot of content being put out daily on one platform. Now imagine what the other platforms put out. If you want people to notice the content you create and make engagement (likes, comments, etc.), you need to make a instantaneous impact. You do this with images, videos, infographics, and the like. You can even combine these tools. If your post doesn’t stand out, it’s not going to reach the potential customers and clients you want it to.
Have Consistency
Being consistent is key for your social media pages. Your followers will want to know what type of things you’ll be posting before they even follow you. If you drastically change the types of posts you are making, it will frustrate your followers and they are more likely to stop following you on social media. Also be consistent in your grammar and images. Make posts that are pleasing to the eye.
Don’t Have Too Many Repeats
It is okay to re-post content. However, you don’t want to re-post the same content several times per day. Your followers don’t want to scroll through 5 posts of the same picture. It also deters possible followers from even following you in the first place. If you do want to re-post content, make sure you wait a least a few days before you do.
Use Previous Content to Build From
The best social media pages use a mixture of original ideas and secondary content. You can use your own posts that have done well to come up with ideas for new content. Think about why your post did well, and see what you can do to replicate the result in new posts. You can do the same thing with secondary content. Look at competitors’ posts and see what has worked for them. Then build your own content off of those concepts.
